ALBANIAN ALPS TOUR

Group travels to Shkodra for accommodation. The program continues with city tour and attractions followed by traditional meal in local restaurant. Shkodra is the largest northern city in Albania and considered to be the capital city of the north. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the Balkans situated on the shores of the Shkodra Lake and at the beginning of the Albanian Alps. Three rivers decorate the surrounding areas of the city, River Buna, River Kir and River Drin. Moreover Shkodra offers a castle, museums, the largest catholic cathedral, and many architectural and cultural features.

The second day starts with a drive to Lake Komani from where we take the ferry boat to Fierza. This is a spectacular boat ride on Komani Lake along granite and limestone mountain peaks. Remote and isolated villages appear occasionally on both sides of the lake. From Fierza we continue first to Bajram Curri city and then Valbona Valley. The group will have a stop along the cold turquoise waters of Valbona River for a picnic or traditional meal. Next we hike in the village of Dragobia and arrive in the village of Valbona.

The group will hike in the Valbona Valley hiking trails. In the morning we walk to Kukaj village and back for lunch. After lunch and a short break we go to Cerem village. In the evening we dine around a big fire and listen to old songs and legends.

This day the group will hike to Theth village through the Valbona pass. This is a 6-8 hours hike into deep forests and up to mountain peaks with a breathtaking landscape and panoramic views. We will have picnic lunch in the mountain. Luggage will be transported by mules we hire in the village. Dinner and overnight will be organized in Theth.

We will visit the isolation tower of the blood feuds, the tower houses, the waterfall, Grunas Canyon, the gorge of Nderlyse village and the Blue Eye of Nderlyse.

This is the last day and we travel back to Shkoder.
